Phileas Fogg, a wealthy, solitary, unmarried English Gentleman of somewhat mysterious means accepts a wager from his fellow gentlemen's club members - £20,000 if he can circumnavigate the globe in eighty days. Accompanied by his manservant, Passepartout, they leave London in 1872 by train and set off on a journey that will take them to Egypt, India, China, Japan, USA and back to London by train, steamer and even elephant! Along the way, they rescue a beautiful Suttee princess from certain human sacrifice, outwit a Scotland Yard detective certain that Fogg is the criminal he seeks, become part of a circus troupe, and are attacked and taken hostage by Native Americans on the US plains. Will Fogg make it back to London in 80 days and retain his fortune, or will he lose the wager and be forced to live destitute? The answer will surprise and delight you.
